Governors, members of the Federal Council and port authorities visited the terminal’s facilities
Last Thursday (20), governors of the ten provinces of the Norte Grande do Argentina and members of the Federal Council of Investments of the neighboring country visited the Paranaguá Port and got to know TCP’s structure. The meeting seeks to expand Argentinean relations with Paranaguá ports.
The team was received by the Portos do Paraná and TCP teams, who presented the logistical and infrastructure advantages of the State, highlighting the New Ferroeste, a railway line that will connect the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina to Paranaguá.
The new railroad will pass through 51 cities in Paraná, in addition to cities in Santa Catarina and Mato Grosso do Sul, allowing the capture of cargo from Paraguay and Argentina. It will be more than 1.5 thousand kilometers.
According to TCP’s Marketing and Logistics Manager, Mateus Campagnaro, “we are the largest container terminal in South America and we have a wide range of services to offer to the Argentine market. We have the largest area for refrigerated cargo in Brazil, and we are the largest frozen chicken export corridor in the world. And on the day the visit took place we even broke the terminal’s productivity record, that is, we have a lot to offer to our neighboring country”. TCP has the largest rail container volume in the country, being the only one in the south to have a direct connection with the railroad.
In an interview to the Agência Estadual de Notícias (AEN) website, the Argentinean consul in Curitiba, Eduardo Leone, said that “our interest is to know how Paranaguá Port works and the infrastructure system, the Atlantic-Pacific corridor, and the possibility of having a greater integration, exporting through Brazilian ports”.
According to the Director of Operations and Acting CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Teixeira da Silva Junior, in an interview with AEN, “Paraná ports are strategically located and are consolidated as a logistics hub in Mercosur. Our proximity to Argentina is a key factor in attracting cargo and new business.
The 10 Argentine provinces
The Argentine Norte Grande region includes ten provinces: Catamarca, Chaco, Corrientes, Formosa, Jujuy, La Rioja, Misiones, Salta, Santiago del Estero and Tucumán. Altogether, there are 850 thousand square kilometers inhabited by 9 million people, who represent 20% of the country’s population.
